After 8 years, MiyoLinux has stopped development.

Many thanks to those who have promoted and/or used MiyoLinux.

Special thanks to the Devuan Veteran Unix Administrators, Debian, fsmithred, golinux, Station Sixtyseven, Jim Acklaw, Adarsh Bhat, Mike Smith, and greenjeans for all of their amazing help! Also, a special thanks to Ron who has been a consistent MiyoLinux user. I wish all of you the best as you move forward!

Though development has ceased, MiyoLinux can still be used by upgrading to the next release versions (daedalus). Openbox users can use the following guide (link) to assure the continued use of the right-click menu...

Again, thank you for all of the support over the years, and I wish you all the best!

Respectfully,
Dan (MiyoLinux)

  • What a great project. I've run all the Miyos, but wmderland just satisfies some kind of unknown craving "it" has given me that's impossible to explain. I only wish it was based on the stable branch for easier updating, but that's not a deal breaker. I ran wmderland exclusively at work as well, which had me working on reports and such in remote outdoor locations, and it was then that I noticed it had great battery life too. Miyo, it was your work that finally got me to jump into the tiling window manager lake; full time. Period. I love minimalism and Miyolinux is a great starting point for anyone interested in the same. I add very few essentials and it's "my own" perfect setup. Thanks so much for the excellent work Miyo!

mrpectate, Thank you! I think wmderland is a fantastic tiling window manager and deserves more attention than it gets, so I'm really happy to know that you're using it! I'm probably going to change how I produce MiyoLinux going forward. In the past, I have produced multiple .isos with many different window managers. I will probably only produce one floating window manager and one tiling window manager based on the stable branch of Devuan from now on. wmderland will most likely be the tiling window manager. So if you'll hang in there, a stable version will be available whenever the next stable release of Devuan is available. Thank you again! MiyoLinux
  • There are some great Openbox Debian distros- Crunch Bang Plus Plus, Bunsen Labs, LiliDog, and now SystemD-free MIYOLinux. It's super lightweight and let's you tweak it to your hearts desires. I love it!
  • I'd use Miyo if I could find away around connman and wicd which just seem to bork my wireless beyond use. Edit: thank you Miyo for your reply and suggestion. I'll see if I can make it work. My plan is to build an install using both OB and dwm. (I'm a huge dwm fan...)

Hi rabideau. Sorry for the problem. I include cmst (connman), because it's lighter on resources. Did you follow the instructions for connecting to your wireless network in the "Live User Notes"? If so, and you still aren't able to connect, you can install network-manager-gnome. I just tried it on a Miyo-IceWM (Devuan Beowulf). Here's what I did... 1. As root (su or sudo), enter the following in your terminal... apt install network-manager-gnome 2. After it's installed, open the "Run command", and enter... nm-applet When it appears in the system tray, click on it, and connect to your wireless network. 3. As root (su or sudo), enter the following command in the terminal... apt remove cmst As I mentioned, I just did that, I've rebooted several times, and I've had a wireless connection every time with Network Manager. Thanks!
  • Normally always use Arch until recently tried a Devuan distribution and Miyo is another one I found on the forum. Good project, could use some work but over ok but not for me.
